Saturday morning \ 16th October \ Meditative \ Restorative
Join me & the incredible Dr. Cathy Scanlon for a much needed restorative movement & breath-work mini workshop on Saturday the 16th October. This class is included in all active subscriptions, and drop in is available for €10.
11am RSA & NL
Our hope for this special event is to bring you all a sense of connection, calmness and grounded-ness and a chance to reflect, observe and acknowledge a deeper sense of self.
Breathwork with Dr. Scanlon (who you may have recently seen on the front page of the Irish Independent) is certainly one of the most gloriously powerful methods of meditation I have ever personally experienced and is not to be missed.
What to expect:
I will lead 20 minutes of very gentle movement to prime your spine and nervous system for the breathwork meditation. Dr. Cathy Scanlon, the Breathwork Coach will then guide us through the second portion of the class, an active breathwork technique that assists us to flow into a space of meditation. This active breathwork (which can be a bit tricky but well worth the effort) will work with your nervous system to take you from fight or flight to rest and digest, to bring new sensation and awareness but also rest and restoration.,
The active breathwork will be a unique experience for every one of us on the mat. Some of us will feel tingles, some of us will feel awareness of painful areas dissipate, some of us may cry or feel the need to release emotion. Some of us will giggle, and some of us may not feel all that much at all. Either way, this technique is extremely beneficial to break us away from the fat pace of life and bring grounded-ness to the weekend.
Breathwork is a deep meditative practice that facilitates the release of stress and tension, as well as emotions we may have been holding onto for many years. It's a highly cathartic and slightly trippy technique, which leaves us feeling lighter and often in a state of bliss and total mind clarity. Research studies have reported states of mental clarity, profound relaxation and sense of well-being after just one Breathwork session. Longer term benefits of deep breathing practices have shown significant effects on the respiratory, cardiovascular, cardiorespiratory and autonomic nervous systems.
What You'll Need:
You'll need a private space where you can lay down flat and stretch out to do the Breathwork. You will need a mat for the 20min gentle restorative movement section. For the breathwork, you can lay on a bed, couch, or the floor —wherever you're comfortable. I also recommend the following: - A camera on your device positioned so I can see your torso when you are lying down - A blanket and pillow Not suitable if you're pregnant / have heart complications.
Join us live on Instagram on Thursday 14th at 8pm (Irish time) to find out more and ask us any questions you may have.
