Breathe With Doctor Cathy Scanlon

Updated: Nov 18, 2020

As a thank you to all of my subscribers and the first of (hopefully) many guest teachers appearing on the schedule, I would like to invite you all to a breath-work class with the amazing Dr. Cathy Scanlon. The class is happening on Saturday morning the 28th of November at 10am Dublin time. We will join together live on Zoom and as always, the class is free with all valid subscription plans.

I discovered Dr Scanlon in lockdown 1 and I have to say that her classes took my buzzing internal dialogue and calmed it right down, bringing me a sense of focus and calm. The class made me aware of how far I'd drifted from centre and that it was possible to press the reset button. The first class was tough in the sense that I realised just how hard it was to focus on my breath for so long, it was certainly not easy by any means. Read below for more information about Cathy, her classes and what you can expect from the experience.

About Breathwork

Breathwork is a deep meditative practice that facilitates the release of stress and tension, as well as emotions we may have been holding onto for many years. It's a highly cathartic and slightly trippy technique, which leaves us feeling lighter and often in a state of bliss and total mind clarity. Research studies have reported states of mental clarity, profound relaxation and sense of well-being after just one Breathwork session. Longer term benefits of deep breathing practices have shown significant effects on the respiratory, cardiovascular, cardiorespiratory and autonomic nervous systems.

What You'll Need For Class You'll need a private space where you can lay down flat and stretch out to do the Breathwork. You can lay on a bed, couch, or the floor —wherever you're comfortable. I also recommend the following:

  • A camera on your device positioned so I can see your torso when you are lying down

  • Headphones (not mandatory but v helpful!)

  • A blanket and pillow

  • Something to cover your eyes with (eye pillow, eye mask, bandana, etc.)

  • Glass/bottle of water

Please note this class is not suitable for mammas to be and also not suitable for those with severe cardiovascular issues. Feel free to get in touch with Cathy ahead of the class for more info here
